greyspace: modular ADHD journal system

Role: UX Design, UX research, Content research, Developer

Overview:

greyspace is an ADHD-focused paper planner — wire-o bound, available in print and PDF — built around a simple philosophy: clarity over completion, compassion over compliance. It's the first piece of a broader "regulation OS," with a two companion apps (Breathe + greyspace portable) extending the same approach digitally.

Challenge:

Most productivity tools are built for brains that work in straight lines: set a goal, follow the steps, check the box, repeat. For ADHD and neurodivergent thinkers, that model doesn't just fail to help — it actively works against you. Missed streaks and empty boxes turn into evidence of failure, when really the tool was never designed for how your brain actually operates.

Approach:
greyspace flips the premise. Instead of demanding compliance, it's designed for regulation — giving you enough structure to see what matters without the shame spiral when a day or week goes sideways. It's flexible by design, so picking the planner back up after falling off it isn't a moral failure, it's just Tuesday.

Results:
A planning system people can actually stay in relationship with — one that meets them where they are instead of punishing them for not being someone else. And with Breathe on the way, that same clarity-over-completion approach is extending beyond paper into a full regulation toolkit.
